Their journey together has just started but they are excited to keep sharing their passion and energy to teach Urbankiz and build an Urbankiz family that everyone can be apart of.

In Summer of 2023 they have launched two weekly classes in Brighton and Southampton with local organisers: Baila en Sussex and Elite Tiempo, and many workshops accross the UK with local collaborations.

At the end of 2023 Michael and Courtney started their first performance team in Brighton starting their first season in January 2024 with the UK's first ever Urbankiz couples performance team!

They have more ideas and projects coming so keep an eye out!

What is Urbankiz?

Urban Kiz was created in Paris around 2013 by Curtis Seldon and Cherazad Benyoucef who were the first to change the way to dance.

It was hugely influenced by the Angolan, traditional dance of Kizomba.

The dance still went under various names, such as Kizomba 2.0, French Style Kizomba, New Style Kizomba, because no consensus was reached on a final name.

The dance style evolved influenced by music styles such as Ghetto-Zouk Tarraxa and remixes with R&B, Rap, Dance and Hip Hop. The newly created dance was still sold as Kizomba although it changed from Kizomba completely and incorporated some elements from other dances such as Tango, Zouk, Hip-hop, Kizomba, Bachata.

In 2015 the new name Urban Kiz was created and publicly announced, it's widely accepted that the brand Urban Kiz was pioneered in Paris by famous dancers Curtis Seldon, Enah Lebon and Moun
